Meet Grant

Grant is a dynamic, funny, and bright teenager who attends
Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, VA. Grant has an
Individualized Education Program (IEP) and personal assistant
who assists him with accommodations. His favorite subject in
school is Adapted Physical Education. Grant is known to be a
practical joker and the “class dad” at school.

The youngest of four children, he’s everyone’s favorite sibling, and
enjoys nothing more than family time. He proudly claims his family
as his best friends. You’ll often find him with his siblings at the
beach, going for ice cream and car rides, and looking at Christmas
lights during the holiday season.

When there’s business to tend to, Grant’s family is quick to help. His siblings, Hayden, Chloe, and Caroline, along with his Mom and Dad, are his valued employees. They take turns driving him to deliveries and assisting with shipments. Their willingness to help with his business, allowed Grant to reach his first business goal of purchasing a wheelchair accessible
golf cart.

His next business objective is to purchase a Track Wheel Chair, a motorized electric wheelchair with tank treads that can navigate the beach. While he has a custom built joystick off road chair created by his Dad, it is unable to travel in the sand.

Grant currently has a wheelchair bike and enjoys riding throughout Chesapeake and Cape Charles with his father. Together they travel through these areas and are known to deliver coffee from their wheels.

Grant loves the water and swims almost daily from April to
October. With his dad, he can swim the length of the pool
completely submerged. He also loves jumping in the deep end
and is a thrill seeker. Grant has been tubing in the Chesapeake Bay,
jet skiing on Lake Erie,
surfing in the Atlantic Ocean, and
waterskiing at Smith Mountain Lake.

When it comes to traveling, Grant enjoys vacations to Smith Island
Maryland and the YMCA Camp Fitch Family Camp. He has also
visited Florida to see his Mimi and been to the Bahamas. Grant has
a floating wheelchair beach chair that can be pushed on the beach
and floats in the water.

When Grant is not outdoors, he is an avid video gamer and enjoys Fort Night, Grand Theft Auto, and USC Fighting video games. He has an adapted joystick controller that enables him to enjoy hours of playing. He also enjoys partaking online with his sister Chloe’s boyfriend, Alek, and his friends.

A determined individual, it’s no surprise that Grant really enjoys sports, especially bowling with family and friends. He uses an adapted bowling device and loves the competitive nature of the game. In the past, he briefly played power wheelchair soccer and adapted baseball.

If you’ve seen Grant around, you’ve probably noticed a theme of blue. It’s his favorite color, which explains his blue van, blue wheelchair, blue bike cushion, and his new blue wheelchair adapted golf cart.
